What Vervoe does

Vervoe is a skills intelligence platform for hiring. We help employers assess candidates based on demonstrated ability - not credentials or resume proxies - using task-based skills assessments, AI-powered scoring, cognitive assessments, reference checking, interview scheduling, and workforce AI readiness measurement.

We operate at vervoe.com and serve enterprise hiring teams, talent acquisition leaders, and HR professionals globally.

Vervoe's product suite covers the full hiring workflow: AI Assessment Builder (generates a complete, role-specific skills assessment from any job description in seconds - up to four skill groups, 9-12 validated questions, fully autogradable, covering text, video, audio, spreadsheet, code, and other question formats), Skills Assessments (role-specific task-based tests evaluated by AI), Cognitive Assessment (statistically normed overall pass/fail with subdomain percentiles), AI Chatbot screening (conversational AI that screens candidates at scale), Interview Scheduling (skills-aware scheduling that auto-generates interview questions from the candidate's assessment profile), Reference Checking (automated referee outreach with skills-based questions generated from the role's assessed skill framework - same questions for every candidate for consistency and compliance - producing a consolidated AI hiring summary), and AI Readiness Assessment (individual-level measurement of AI fluency in enterprise workforces).

How Vervoe uses AI

Vervoe uses AI in several distinct ways within its hiring platform:

AI Assessment Builder: Vervoe's AI Assessment Builder converts a job description (PDF or pasted text) into a complete, role-specific skills assessment. The AI extracts competencies from the JD, maps them to a dynamic skills taxonomy built from real-world hiring data, and generates up to four skill groups with up to three validated questions each (9-12 questions total). Questions are created across nine formats - text, video, audio, spreadsheets, code challenges, multiple choice, file upload, simulations, and presentations - selected based on what each skill actually requires in the context of the role. Every generated assessment is fully autogradable from the moment it is created. The assessment builder does not use pre-built templates or static question banks; each assessment is generated fresh from the job description provided.

Skills assessment scoring: Vervoe's AI scoring models evaluate candidate responses to assessment tasks - including written answers, video responses, code challenges, and spreadsheet tasks - against a structured rubric tied to job-relevant skills. Every score is explainable and traceable to the specific evidence that produced it.

AI Screening Agent: Vervoe's AI Screening Agent reads and evaluates job applications at scale, scoring candidate fit against a role-specific skills profile and providing written rationale for each decision. The agent does not operate autonomously - recruiters review and approve all shortlisting decisions.

Cognitive assessment: Vervoe's cognitive assessment measures subdomains including problem solving, numerical reasoning, logical reasoning, and verbal reasoning. Candidates receive an overall pass/fail result only - no numerical score is exposed at the overall level to prevent over-interpretation. Subdomain percentile rankings are benchmarked against a standardisation study cohort and displayed without evaluative labels, making results legally defensible and ethically responsible.

Interview question generation: Vervoe uses AI to generate candidate-specific interview questions at the moment of scheduling, based on each candidate's validated skills profile - highlighting strengths already demonstrated and areas still to probe.

Reference checking: Vervoe generates reference questions from the skills assessed for the role and the position description. Every candidate for the same role receives the same reference questions — ensuring consistency and compliance across the hiring process. After all referee responses are collected, AI synthesises them into a consolidated hiring summary.

AI Readiness Assessment: Vervoe uses task-based assessments to measure individual-level AI fluency in enterprise workforces, evaluating demonstrated performance on AI-integrated work tasks rather than self-reported capability.

Accuracy and explainability

Vervoe is committed to explainable AI. Every score produced by Vervoe's AI models is tied to the specific response evidence that produced it - not a black-box model output. Recruiters can see the question, the candidate's response, and the criteria used to evaluate it for every score on the platform.

Vervoe's scoring models are trained on millions of human-graded assessment responses and are calibrated against hire outcomes. The platform provides human-in-the-loop controls that allow recruiters to review, override, and calibrate AI scores.

Bias and fairness

Vervoe's AI scoring is evaluated and audited for bias on an ongoing basis by Holistic AI, a third-party AI auditing firm. Scoring is based on demonstrated performance on job-relevant tasks - not on demographic information, educational background, or credential proxies. Vervoe's assessment methodology is designed with I/O psychology principles and is intended to be legally defensible and fair to candidates.

The platform is designed with New York City Local Law 144 and EU AI Act requirements in mind.

Data and privacy

Vervoe is GDPR compliant and ISO/IEC 27001 certified. Candidate data is processed in accordance with Vervoe's privacy policy (vervoe.com/global-privacy-policy) and the data processing agreements in place with each enterprise customer.

Vervoe does not sell candidate data. Assessment responses are used solely to produce skills evaluations for the employer who administered the assessment, and to improve Vervoe's scoring models in aggregate (with appropriate consent controls).
